Tour report:

Youth Expo for 2007 was held this year in Warakurna. The Red Dust team was a big one for this event, with 17 role models helping out in the community alongside the organizing committee.

The Youth Expo brought together seven communities – 63 kids, with ages ranging from 11 – 14 years. The students represented schools from Warakurna, Wanarn, Wingellina, Tjirrkarli, Warburton, Jameson and Blackstone.

The annual event is a three-day program that focuses on healthy lifestyle and positive messages for the participants. This is done through classroom sessions, sporting activities and the MusoMagic program.

The days were busy and the challenge was to keep the kids moving through the many activities on rotation. The kids spent 30 minutes with each program on the first day. These were softball, AFL, soccer, music and health workshops. As usual the kids displayed their wonderful skills on the sporting field, making it hard for some of the Red Dusters to keep up!

Yet another great song was created by the kids, Adam and Glenn called "The Storyteller". Quite a few of the kids had been part of the previous Expo and were really keen to record another song.  A great deal of hard work was put in and there was much anticipation while they waited to see the end result, which was met with laughter and cheers as they watched the video clip of the song they helped create.

The Role Models did an amazing job with the kids running around on the sporting field and spending time sharing life stories. All were very happy to crawl into bed at night! It is not always easy to organize such a big group, but everyone pitched in to help with all the tasks and made it quite a memorable experience.
