About: Red Dust Role Models

Red Dust Role Models Ltd is a not-for-profit organisation with endorsement as a deductible gift recipient (DGR) with the Australian Tax Office.

The organization is administered by a National Board and 30 'founding members' representing role models from the fields of sport, business, music, film & entertainment and the medical professions.

The formation of Red Dust Role Models 'Lifestyle Education Program' results from knowledge, research and experience gained over 12 years of working with remote indigenous communities.

Red Dust Role Models uses the profile and influence of positive role models to deliver health messages and inspire healthy lifestyle decisions among remote, indigenous youth.

Role Models also promote education as a pathway to increased opportunities for personal development, employment and preparedness for community leadership.

Red Dust Role Models will conduct 16 community visits in 2008. Community visits comprise a minimum of four days in the community. RDRM Communities receive at least two visits each year, demonstrating the program's commitment and positively reinforcing health messages.

Community schools are the focal point of Red Dust Role Models activities.

Red Dust Role Models value and respect indigenous culture. Cultural orientation and training of role models is an integral part of each tour.

Red Dust Role Models acknowledges its major program partners and sponsors: Vodafone Australia Foundation, NIKE Australia, Macquarie Group Foundation, Voyages, Ansvar Insurance, Working Dog, Clayton Utz, Northern Territory Government, Sweeney Research and Philips Australia, along with special support from The Shane Warne Foundation, Shell Australia and the Melbourne Tigers.

Red Dust Role Models applauds other organisations which work with indigenous youth, or have similar names.
However we are not associated or affiliated with Red Dust Theatre or Red Dust Furniture Co.
