Red Dust launches new Asia Pacific expansion (04-Mar-08)

Indigenous Australian Communities Lifted Up To The 'Stars'

Mumbai- cricket training Join sporting heroes including cricketing legend Allan Border, Olympic hurdler Kyle Vander Kuyp, rugby legend Brad Fittler, V8 Supercar driver Stephen Richards and entertainer Santo Cilauro to celebrate the international expansion of their chosen charity, Red Dust Role Models.

Due to the success of this innovative health promotion charity and its effective remote community programs – the Vodafone Group Foundation has made a multi million dollar charitable donation which will enable Red Dust to expand internationally. This funding support from the global foundation of Vodafone builds on the significant existing partnership Red Dust holds with the Vodafone Australia Foundation.

To mark the occasion, children from the East Arnhem island community of Milingimbi are making a special trip to Sydney to perform a moving cultural dance and song.

Mumbai - basketball training The event will also incorporate the following:

  • Details of 2008 Australian based Lifestyle Education Program tours to remote communities

  • Recognition of Vodafone Group Foundation multi-million dollar charitable donation enabling international expansion

  • Revelation of impending work throughout the Asia Pacific region.

Kyle Vander Kuyp Red Dust Role Models is an inspiring Health Promotion Charity that seeks to improve the health and wellbeing of disadvantaged youths in remote communities.

The organisation works with well known and respected community role models to encourage healthy lifestyle decisions and promote education as a path to personal development, employment and preparedness for community leadership. The program reinforces five key health messages:

  • ‘Stay off the grog’

  • Don’t abuse alcohol or use illicit drugs

  • Eat healthy foods and drink healthy drinks

  • Look after your body, it’s the only one you’ve got

  • Stay active and exercise
