Red Dust Commemorates Reconciliation Week 2009 - 27 May – 3 June 27-May-09Most people now recognise that the words ‘close the gap’ refer to decreasing the wide gulf between indigenous and non-indigenous Australians in terms of health, life expectancy, education and employment opportunities, amongst many other disparities. Red Dust supports Reconciliation Week’s call for ‘everyone to join the reconciliation conversation’ and to consider how we can work together to turn around the disadvantage experienced by so many Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. This year’s theme is ‘See the person, not the stereotype’. We encourage you to visit Reconciliation Week’s website and find out more about activities marking the week, and how you might ‘join the reconciliation conversation’.
