Galiwinku is located approximately 150 km west/southwest of the mining town of Nhulunbuy in the Northern Territory. The community has a population of around 1000 Yolngu people. Before the missionaries built an airstrip at Burum (Galiwin'ku outstation), the Yolnu from this area lived a traditional lifestyle in the bush, that was in the 60's. They lived in traditional shelters and lived by hunting and fishing.

Galiwin'ku has many programs that are run for youth including:
