Grant Weir

Playing baseball from a young age, Grant was a regular member of the Australian Team from 1985 through to 1992, including a position on the 1988 Australian Olympic Team.

 

He has represented Victoria at many Claxton Shields and played in the Australian Baseball League for the Melbourne Monarchs.

 

After Grant’s playing career ended, he coached at both a state and national level including the Victorian Claxton Shield Team, the Australian National Women’s Team, the ABL and the Australian National AA Team, and was rewarded with Life Membership of the Victorian Baseball Association.

 

His experience as a State Development manager for 20 years, and a 15-year relationship with Major League Baseball through his role as a talent scout for the Houston Astros (and more recently the Anaheim Angels, led to a stint as National Manager – Game Development with the Australian Baseball Federation.

Before this, Grant had held national development roles for the sport of Bowls and Tennis Australia, and for nine months was the Victorian Institute of Sport Coach for Softball.

 

He is currently Game Development Manager with Hockey Australia.
