Ngawurrayamangamiya Kidney Health Festival was held on Bathurst Island 21st June 2012
Red Dust was invited to be involved in this Kidney Festival, after the success of the “Billy the Kidney” song and clip which was written and performed by the kids at Milikapiti School on Melville Island back in May.
With the event being held at Wurrimiyanga on Bathurst Island, Red Dust and Muso Magic teamed up to assist in the logistics of the festival, and to work with the kids at Wurrimiyanga School to teach them the song and dance of “Billy the Kidney”.
The concert which was held in the community on Wednesday night was amazing. The kids all sang and danced to the song….again, and again, and again…….to the delight of their parents and community.
The Strong Women choir also gave a fantastic performance, and even asked to sing and dance to the song….at the back of the crowd.
Jo Fairbairn from Kidney Australia did an amazing job at bringing this event together, and the Health workers at Julanimawu Health Centre on Tiwi were very welcoming and supportive of our teams in so many ways.
