Community and Kindness: Derek Williams Unforgettable Experience

Written by Red Dust | Sep-26

Meet Derek Williams, a police officer from Yuendumu and a long-standing friend of Red Dust.

When Derek bought tickets for his family to attend the 2023 Grand Final in Melbourne, fate had other plans: two blown tyres left them stranded at the roadside and missing their flight.

When Red Dust learned of Derek's misfortune, we reached out to our incredible network. Thanks to the generosity of Santo Cilauro and the Collingwood Football Club, Derek and his family received tickets to the Anzac Day game and enjoyed a meet-and-greet with the team during training.

The cherry on top? Derek was featured in the audience at this week's episode of the Front Bar, sharing laughs with Mick Molloy, Andy Maher, and Sam Pang.
