Red Dust worked with Utju students to celebrate Healthy HeART Week making stethoscopes and learning how the heart works.
There was heaps of fun to be had with the 'germ hunt' game and learning about the importance of hygiene for a healthy heart. Students took their skills to the next level building hearts that pumped and stethoscopes to listen to each others heart beats. A team of local community artists supported students to get ‘arty’ by designing their own artwork on local dreaming story, rainbow serpent. Despite the cold and wet weather, Utju community and Red Dust managed to brighten up the school with 4 art murals and celebrated at their schools health festival to top it off.
There aren't many employment opportunities in our community so to work as an artist alongside Red Dust with our mob is great.
Red Dust’s Healthy Living program aims to increase awareness in youth and families of the links between healthy lifestyle choices and healthy hearts.
This project was partly supported with an Edwards Lifesciences Every Heartbeat Matters Grant.
