Volunteering with Red Dust is often described as life-changing.

Volunteering with Red Dust to support remote program delivery is invite-only to ensure each opportunity delivers a volunteer experience with genuine impact from a two-way exchange of cultures.

There are limited opportunities to volunteer with our remote community programs in the Northern Territory.

Individual Volunteering

For individuals seeking to support Red Dust’s mission.‍

All volunteers are required to cover the cost of their flights and accommodation to arrive into the closest capital city (Darwin or Alice Springs), and complete the onboarding process (see FAQ’s below).

FAQs

You will be part of a team including Red Dust program leads and community members who provide essential guidance on protocols, culture and local relationships. Your role is to support our team deliver the program.

All team members share domestic duties - cooking, cleaning, packing and setting up. Everyone contributes to maintaining a respectful, safe and inclusive environment that reflects Red Dust’s values.

Each program is unique and tailored for the community it is being delivered in, within either the Top End or Central Desert regions of the Northern Territory.

Due to the remote nature of the programs, allow 5-7days for your volunteer program inclusive of travel to/from the NT.

To ensure all volunteers are a good fit for Red Dust programs and will uphold our values, we require you to: 

  • Complete Red Dust’s Reconciliation Education Essentials and Foundation for Reconciliation in-person workshop
  • Read and agree to Red Dust policies which include:
    • Code of Conduct
    • Social and Visual Media Policy
  • Obtain the NT Specific Working with Children Card (Ochre Card) once you have received the Approved Red Dust Volunteer letter. Please note that all other WWC Cards are not applicable.
  • Attend pre-program virtual briefing

A maximum of two volunteers can support each program.

For Individual volunteers, you are required to cover your flights to either Darwin or Alice Springs (depending on the location of your program), and accommodation either side of the program commencing. This can be offset by raising funds as a community fundraiser.

For Corporate volunteers, opportunities are reserved for our partners and can be incorporated into our partnership agreement. Employee fundraising initiatives can also be included to offset costs, which is a great way to engage your team and align with your Reconciliation Action Plan.
