Red Dust has been working alongside Solar Buddy to bring STEM opportunities into remote classrooms. It's part of an unofficial, ongoing partnership inspired by our mutual desire to ensure science is accessible in remote communities; delivered through a hands on, enjoyable and educational experience.

Providing programs that are embedded with science provides students with a keen interest to further explore this field. It also allows Red Dust to continue its goal to help close the gap in education.

Solar Buddy were in community as part of the illuminating Areyonga project - funded by the Toyota Motor Corporation Australia, which allowed them to install six solar-powered floodlights. The six solar streetlights provide safe, reliable lighting that directly benefits community members and visitors to the community.

About Solar Buddy

Shaped in collaboration with First Nations community partners and facilitated by local educators, SolarBuddy’s STEM education workshops engage students with renewable energy through hands-on solar device assembly. In communities without reliable energy access, students keep their solar device to support studying at home.

For communities where energy is reliable, the devices students assemble will be gifted forward to peers without reliable energy access.

Thanks to Solar Buddy, Areyonga School & the local community for working with us to help bring this program to light!
