ANZ Corporate leaders commitment to cross-cultural competency

ANZ Bank corporate leaders engage in Australia's ancient culture, not as tourists but to expand mindsets through education and immersion.

When we bring people from the city onto country we ensure that what those participants experience isn't cultural tourism, but instead an opportunity to look within at what it means to be Australian, to broaden ones mindset through education and an immersion into the worlds oldest continuous living cultures.

Red Dust's on-Country Program took place in Central Australia and saw twelve participants from ANZ join our facilitators Alan, Chris, Tyrone and AJ who invited them to partake in a series of experiences, conversations and lessons on Arrernte Country.

The visiting team had the chance to hear from our team on subjects including land rights in the NT and the civilisations that have lived here for thousands of years. This type of conversation often highlights the lack of education throughout history, something so many are aware of but never took the opportunity to learn about themselves. It's a crucial part of the Reconciliation journey all Australians must walk together, which honours the truth and experiences of First Nations people

Listening is only part of this journey; learning is another, and that includes learning more about yourself. Giving our guests the opportunity to tell their own stories means expanding how they talk about and share their own identities.

We ask people to do three things:

• Educate yourself

• Challenge yourself

At Red Dust we believe that everyone has a culture, everyone has an identity, and whether it's through our On Country Program, or in our Reconciliation Workshops, we offer you the space to experience this insight.

The impact of partnerships

The partnership with ANZ supports our staff to continue their work within communities, educating younger generations on culture and cultural practices while providing supportive local role models. It's not only important for connection, but it also creates a real-time moment of impact for those we invite to join us on these programs.

Getting a first-hand experience of the pride, knowledge and strength of culture often leaves participants with a stronger sense of identity as an Australian. Red Dust is tremendously grateful for ANZ's support in our ongoing journey into reconciliation and for joining us along the way.
